The tenant who pays but doesn’t pay

How did we let this unwarranted tenant come in, was it because we didn't know the destructive effects of his disease? Everyone hates him publicly, they can murder him on the spot without a second thought, but we began embracing him when he had something to offer.

He has been living here since 1960, or probably before that. He is undeniably popular, in fact he has become the face of the nation, and he doesn't look like he is ready to leave, because he is paying rents to a few landlords. Well, let me tell you why we must exterminate this evil tenant called Corruption that has ruined this country way more than we can imagine.

We are the Giant of Africa, but our roads, rails, energy, schools, hospitals and even the impoverished population don't reflect that.

There is sufficient money for health in the commonwealth, but truly, corruption has deprived the citizenry of what we should have on a norm.

According to Wikipedia, more than $400B was stolen from the treasury by leaders within 1960 and 1999.

Officials make public projects complex in order to pave the way for crooked deals, tying funds to invisible expenses.

Contractors are not saints here. Corruption lowers compliance with standards and regulations, reducing the quality of projects. In construction, it facilitates destruction. Buildings keep collapsing because of substandard workmanship.

Promotions in institutions are now based on connections rather than professionalism.

In case you’re still wondering why you should join this fight to sign the quit notice, data from Statista in 2020 showed that the average cost of living for an individual in Nigeria was N43,200, it must have risen, yet civil servants are still reluctantly being paid N30,000 as minimum wage, 30k for a family?

If you refuse to do anything because you are satisfied and comfortable, only time will tell when you'll be victimised by the vulnerable.

Lack of accountability and transparency has kept the country in stagnation for more than fifteen years, and now we're leaping into declination

If EFCC's boss, Mr Ibrahim Magu, who ought to have been at the forefront of the battle also got infected, we must understand that we're combating a really contagious disease, and so the vaccine should be likewise.

We have laws, but it's quite dismaying how lawless we seem to be, people easily get away with so many things.

People sell votes for peanuts, not realising that politicians are making investments that they'll take back when they get into office.

Now, there is the issue of oil theft, the oil that has not even benefited its population is now being stolen to inflict more poverty on people.

The Accountant-General, Mr Ahmed Idris, Deputy Police Commissioner, Abba Kyari, and even General Sani Abacha who's loot report is extraordinary everyday are just a few out of the waggons of perpetrators who do these things daily.

Efforts have been made, but not sure if progress has. We have IPPIS, Treasury Single Account, Whistle-blowing policy, Financial Transparency policy and whatsoever, but how effective have they been? Are we going to keep hunting corrupt individuals, or are we finally going to go head-to-head against the root cause, the corrupt mindset?

It will take the collaboration of everyone involved to bridge the integrity breach, Everyone!

The term 'Corruption' has been mystified and made to look like something only practiced by those in government, calm down, it's not far from you. It happens in classrooms, organisations, even in families.
You make 1 + 1 = 3 so that you can keep 1 as change, that's simply corruption.

Whenever the standard of doing what is right is compromised for personal gain, corruption is at play, and now, it must be put to check in order for Nigeria to make progress. If freedom from slavery was a possibility, freedom from corruption is likewise achievable. How it is going to be achieved is where you should get involved
